World of Warcraft Upgrades and Item Upgrading
Upgrades increase the value of certain numeric stats on weapons, armor and rings. They also boost extra bonuses, such as PvE damage and crit chance.
For example, a weapon with the upgrade template that is ending in % will take on an attack damage of 3% each time it is upgraded (relative to its previous value).
The cost of upgrading an item is determined by the item's level. The cost rises with item's level.
Components
Upgrade components are items that can be put into armor, weapons and trinkets to provide an additional stat boost or impact while they're being used. They can be obtained by crafting, buying from vendors trading or looting. Certain upgrades come with special cosmetic effects.
Upgrade components can be inserted into any equipment that has a slot to accommodate them. The item must be at the very least upgraded to blue level for a component to be applied. Upgrade components, unlike other mods, can only be applied only once. They are not able to be replaced or applied several times. Infusions and enrichments are a special type of upgrade component that is used to upgrade non-amulet ascended or legendary equipment, as well as some of the items that are not ascending back. Infusions and enrichments can be recovered by salvaging ascended gear or by completing an elite mission in the Prophecies, Factions and Nightfall campaigns.
A prefix or suffix can be added to an upgrade, changing the name of the item it is used on (for example 'Canthan Armor Insignia,' is changed to Canthan Armor Minor Vigor). Certain upgrades can increase the Mark Rarity or Level of an item, allowing players to create stronger versions using the smallest amount of upgrade crystals than they need to reach the same level using normal methods.
A boost upgrade can alter the attack or defense attributes of a weapon or armor. These upgrades can be made from the Portative Forging Station once the player has completed the cutscene, and defeats the Crazed Mechanical. These upgrades can be obtained by purchasing them in the cash shop or getting them from enemies while upgrading other equipment.
Each upgrade increases the probability that a higher tier version of an item will be revealed at the next reset. This gives the player some incentive to continue upgrading their gear even if they're uncertain of how much it will increase after a future reset.
The boost upgrade may be successful or not, the process could be expensive, and there is a substantial possibility that the item will be obsolete or even break when it fails. A failed upgrade will cause the destruction of the Upgrade Crystals and Assist Powder, as well as the upgraded item. Cash shop items can be used to decrease or eliminate the chance of failure. Certain upgrades also provide the player a bonus if they are they are reinserted.
Glyphs
Glyphs are upgrade components that can be placed in special sockets on the Paragon Board. Glyphs increase the power of all nodes within their radius and include pre-existing affixes to equipment. Glyphs are upgraded in various ways, and we suggest getting them up to level 15 as soon as you can.
In the endgame you'll often discover that the best way to improve your gear is by placing Glyphs. They are the only upgrade components that can be upgraded directly to level 15, and they provide a large boost to your power and radius on the Paragon Board, enabling you to climb higher nodes much faster.
Glyphs, the only upgrade component which can be removed without restriction and replaced again, are the most common. Only legendary equipment can be salvaged and rebuilt using the help of a Black Lion Salvage Kit.
Each Glyph has a certain range of values that can enhance a stat by. The value is shown when you choose the Glyph in your inventory. You can decide to replace it with a different Glyph with the same rank or a higher rank, which will boost the overall value of the glyph.
Glyphs are available in the Black Lion Trading Post as part of the Gem Store bundle or purchase, with certain unlimited-use tools, and during Faction Crypt Raids. Each Faction Crypt has the possibility of dropping one of the many Glyphs, and there are some rare glyphs that can be found as drops from any of the four Faction Crypts.
Once you have obtained the desired Glyphs you'll need them to be placed on your equipment. Each Glyph unlocks a unique bonus that boosts a specific set of stat nodes that are within the radius of the Glyph. This will either be +40 for one of your primary stats or +25 for two of your secondary stats based on the Glyph.
Glyphs increase the number of nodes connected to them, so it is recommended to place Glyphs in key spots on the Graph. This will maximize the impact. Druids, for example should position their Glyphs close to their primary damage nodes. They may also want to consider placing them near their critical damage nodes.
Leveling
The upgrade system for items allows players to increase the performance of certain items by placing upgraded components in them. This is referred to as "upping". Every upgradeable item is assigned an amount that determines the final stats. Upgraded items can be upgraded up to a maximum level of ilvl 385. Each level of an item requires different components, and the cost of upgrading increase with each level.
Some upgrades require a special ingredient to activate. This ingredient is obtained from the completion of Upgrade Recipes. These recipes can be found in the upgrade tab of a crafting table or purchased from some NPCs. Each Upgrade Recipe that is completed will result in a certain amount of Technology points. These points can be used to leveling up an item. Once enough points are earned you'll be able to claim the upgrade and get its extra bonuses.
When the player improves a piece of equipment the original item will be replaced by a new item. This means that the same piece of armor will be transformed into an weapon or shield once upgraded. The new item will have its own set bonus. This can be a disadvantage, as it can make the item more expensive if you don't require it.
Item upgrades can sometimes be rerolled, provided that the player has enough tokens to be able to do this. The item will be replaced by the same item, but it is based on a level 1 base and completely different bonuses. This can be useful for some items, but it shouldn't be done regularly, as it could waste lots of resources.
Certain upgrades can increase their value and allow players to modify their gear. One example is Dolphin's Gift, which gives an increase in power when a player is repeatedly in and out of the water (or swims like dolphins). This item can be upgraded several times, increasing the maximum roll each time by 10 increments. This item can be very useful in PvP battles, since the best version of it can be worth between 20 and 50x its value if it is not upgraded.
Requirements
The ability to upgrade items allows players to upgrade the level of their available gear--armor, weapons and trinkets that are above ilvl 385 by presenting the appropriate currency and items to an NPC that upgrades items. The upgrade of armor set pieces will also increase the defense base of that piece, while upgrading weapon items will increase the base damage as well as the required strength and dexterity to meet the upgraded equipment's requirements.
Each item can be upgraded up to five times, with the exception for hero gear, which can be upgraded eight times. Each when you upgrade an item it has an opportunity to fail. The rate of failure increases as you exceed the maximum amount of upgrades. Failures can cause the item to revert to its initial state, requiring the player to pay more for materials than they would have to had they stopped upgrading at the maximum number of upgrades.
If an item is not upgraded the experience bar in the bar for growth will be reset to zero. item upgrader loses any bonuses it gained, such as chances to be crit, attack damage, or other effects (such as increased heal over time, or reloading speed). The player will be able to use their weapon or armor after the failure.
When an item is upgraded the upgrades are applied from the lowest to highest. This means that should a weapon gain an increase in the chance of crit the increase is applied prior to any increase in attack damage. A new attribute known as Slots is now added to the item's definition and the value is recomputed every time an upgrade is applied.
The amount of resources needed to upgrade an item is based on the rarity rating and the number of upgrade slots. The cost of upgrading non-premium equipment is equivalent to its value. For instance an item that is commonplace could have five upgrades at a cost. 25,600 Technology Points and 4x Quality Improvement Chance--whereas hero grade items will have a much lower cost for each additional upgrade.
Premium items have different upgrade requirements than standard gear--for instance, they may require fewer sowels but more minerals and erons. The player will still need to bring every piece of equipment they want to upgrade to the NPC [Armor] Boboko located in Central Flarine. In addition to the upgrade costs listed above, each upgrade requires the use of different upgrade ingredients.
